Our Beginning
In May 2023, members of Canadian renewable energy co-operatives met in Ottawa for the “Scaling up the Impact of Renewable Energy Co-operatives in Canada” summit. This first-of-its-kind event resulted in the creation of Community Energy Co-operative Canada | Coopérative Énergétique Communautaire Canada.
Our Goal
CECC represents the renewable energy co-operative sector in Canada and believes in the power of renewable energy to transform communities. Together with individuals and organizations across Canada we are working to scale up community ownership and governance of energy through co-operatives. Join us today and be a part of the movement for a better tomorrow and create a sustainable and equitable future.

The Community Energy Forum and the CECC Annual General Meeting in June was a resounding success with 39 people attending in-person at Dalhousie University in Halifax and 51 people attending virtually from across the country. Presentations and panels throughout the two days included the experience and knowledge from seasoned practitioners, senior researchers and students from across the country and even on-line presentations from European experts.
